Let’s go way back. Back to April. This was Simon’s first official Spring Break and we spent most of our time just hanging out at home, enjoying each other’s company and being able to sleep in. Just the Simon and Ryan slept in, Mason’s an early riser, which means I have to be too.
We did go on a fun adventure that week to the Wildlife World Zoo. We originally planned on going to the Out of Africa Wildlife Park but it was a long drive and we wanted to spend the day outside and not driving.
The Wildlife World Zoo has a great Aquarium. They even had a “petting zoo”, if you could call it that, where you could touch the starfish, sea urchins, and some other creepy critters.
I’ve never seen so many fish before! This was my first time (that I can remember) that I have been to an aquarium. Maybe I was a sheltered child.
Sharks, Rays, eels, and a zillion fish.
The zoo was so much different than the Phoenix Zoo. All of the animals were so close to you! There were TONS of birds, especially Macaws.
Ever branch of the zoo had some type of Macaw exhibit. Not that I’m complaining. I think they are just lovely.
This little guy made us bust out laughing! He was just chillin in his cage, eating his banana, sitting on a very uncomfortable looking branch. ouch!
When I said it seemed like you could reach out and touch the animals I wasn’t lying. This cheetah was RIGHT there! The cage goes up and over the walkway and she was sleeping just above our heads. If I wasn’t afraid of losing a finger I could have reached through the links and touched her.
I have no idea what this is. We thought it looked like a dinosaur bird.
All hot and tired, hanging with a croc. He was ginormous!
Behind Jeremiah and Ryan is the Giraffe feeding area. We watched some other other people feed the giraffes little food pellets. The giraffes would stick out their really long black tongues and catch the food. I could not believe how long a giraffe’s tongue is! Even the baby had a foot-long tongue!
Mason was exhausted by the time we were finished. But he is a good baby and barely made a peep.
Before we left we convinced Simon that he wanted to ride the log flume. He was a little bit hesitant but I went along with him. The ride was a blast but Simon wasn’t prepared for the huge drop at the end. It think it will be a while before I get him on any other rides.
A quick trip to the gift shops, where you can swim with the fishes.
This place was a hit with the kids and I can’t wait to take them back!
