On our way home from Carlsbad, way back at Thanksgiving time, we stopped by the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson.
Jeremiah was like a kid in a candy store. We took our time walking around the HUGE indoor and outdoor museum. It made our trip long last way too long but it was totally worth every second!
I don’t know the names of the planes, that’s Jeremiah’s department, so I’ll just post some pretty plane pictures.
Big planes, little planes, and every size in between. The kids got to climb into this teeny plane and play around in it.
We rolled the kids around in a wagon. They were road weary and sleepy but they had fun, almost as much fun as the grown ups.
Air Force One.
My favorite room was the space museum. The tired boys got out of the wagon for just long enough to play around in the little kids area and take pictures as astronauts!
So cool! The Apollo command Module.
Recently Ryan has been so interested in the earth. He gets excited to see maps and globes and I am starting to teach him the names of the continents. And he knows where to find the United States and Arizona! So naturally he loved the giant globe.
Interesting planes were everywhere. This one has double props.
We saw this plane from the road. It was by far the biggest one on the lot. It was a massive bubble plane!
Here’s the back of it.
They call it the Super Guppy, and it is made to carry space stuff.
“Saw here for emergency rescue.”
This picture gives you some perspective on how big these planes are. Ryan looks so small under the giant propellers.
Before we left the museum Ryan was fast asleep in the wagon. We wore them completely out.
We got in the car and drove back to Mesa and stopped 5 more times in that supposed to be 1.5 hour drive home. Bathroom breaks, gas, feed the baby, bathroom breaks again, and one more bathroom break. We couldn’t have been more relieved to finally walk into our own home and sleep in our own beds. We had a fantastic trip and we can’t wait to do it all again!
Fun! That's not too far from where we live. We drive by it all the time going to Mesa, but we've never been. I've never even looked into going, even though I've meant to all this time. You post makes me want to take our kids for sure.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: I thought this place was off the I-10 not too far north of us. That's the Pinal Air Park, kind of a boneyard for jets and it can be seen from the interstate. The place you went to is obviously not what I was thinking, but looks awesome. I'd like to go there.
ReplyDeletePS- did you see the ostrich ranch from the interstate on your drive home? We went recently and I totally recommend it if you're ever in our neck of the woods again.
So, I totally got sidetracked the other day when I was texting you and never left a comment on this post! Lol. What a fun place! I love that big bubble plane.
ReplyDeleteI hope painting is going well! Can't wait to see your work of art!
